Bob the SHIT SZU

Yes this is our boy. A most loveable and friendly dog 'BOB'
Not camera shy, although frightened of the water.
Loves an adventure.
As he proved yesterday, when I turned my back and he went missing !!
Found him down the road in an empty block next to the National Park reserve.
Only metres from dense bush ..... Doesn't bear thinking about !!!
Like I said "He's a SHIT Szu"

Location

This is our Town of Umina Beach. We are both very happy with our location choice & our house.
Not far from the beach. Only a walk away. Well ok, so I don't do 'Walk' lol.
Bob enjoys the beach walks. Although is a dog that doesn't like water.

Memories of Bali

Happy Holidays !

The look of a recharged happy wife.

Surfing Dude

We thought the World Surfing Championships were in town at first. But no, It was only Ronald there to do what he does best !!!

A Baby Pygmy Seahorse

The pygmy seahorse, also known as Bargibanti's seahorse, (Hippocampus bargibanti) is a seahorse of the family Syngnathidae in the western central Pacific. It is tiny, no larger than about 2.4 cm.
This one we saw, was a baby Pygmy seahorse and only about the size of a quarter your little finger nail. We were so very lucky to find it. (With a great deal of help from our Dive Guide) Mind you, I reckon they know where all the fish live in their “Pond”.

Leaf Fish

A Pretty coloured Leaf fish.
Not seen one this colour before.

The Famous "Bubble Fish"

The Famous "Bubble Fish"
This is the rare but beautiful Australian Bubble fish. Which aspires to be an established warm water critter of the Asia-Pacific seas. It can appear from no where. Usually feeds at depths between 0 and 40 metres. Always looking for other aquatic creatures to play with. A friendly social animal that will only peck when tormented. Dabble with it at your peril.

Mola Mola

The Famous "Ocean Sun Fish" (Mola Mola)
This particular fish was about 2.5 metres high in size. ENORMOUS.
We were very lucky to see this fish. They normally live in deepwater.
The Ocean sunfish, Mola mola, or common mola, is the heaviest known bony fish in the world. It has an average adult weight of 1,000 kg (2,200 lb). The species is native to tropical and temperate waters around the globe. It resembles a fish head with a tail, and its main body is flattened laterally. Sunfish can be as tall as they are long when their dorsal and ventral fins are extended. Specimens up to 3.2 m (10.5 ft) in height have been recorded.
Sunfish live on a diet that consists mainly of jellyfish, but because this diet is nutritionally poor, they consume large amounts in order to develop and maintain their great bulk. Females of the species can produce more eggs than any other known vertebrate. Sunfish fry (‘fry’ are baby fish for the uninitiated) resemble miniature pufferfish, with large pectoral fins, a tail fin and body spines uncharacteristic of adult sunfish.
Adult sunfish are vulnerable to few natural predators, but sea lions, orcas and sharks will consume them. A member of the order Tetraodontiformes, which also includes pufferfish, porcupinefish and filefish.

Now you see it - Now you don't

Now you see it - Now you don't

This is a pretty little fella.
Looks better in situ than on the plate !

An Ocellaris clownfish. A truly classic fish made famous by Nemo on the Big screen. These are always seen as one of our favourites. So cute trying to protect its little domain.
They actually nip you if you get too close.

More Bali Pics

This was our Out-rigger canoe we used for diving on a couple of days.
Although in principle it looks too small and impractical for diving.... I must say that it was totally simple to get in and out with tanks etc...

It was a fun couple of days diving the beautiful local reefs around the headland from where we were staying.  Our equipment was carried to & from the canoe by local bearers.

Our Bali Diving Pics

I am told this is a Harlequin shrimp. Pretty whatever !
They are colorful and very popular for aquariums These animals dwell in coral reefs, where they live solely on a diet of starfish.  This animal also has unusual front legs that are shaped like paddles. Harlequin shrimps grow only up to 2 inches. Although I might add these were a bit bigger.
Their front legs act as a pseudo needle type projection that temporarily paralyzes the prey, enabling the shrimp to flip them over and carry them off.
The shrimp consumes starfish alive. Usually working in pairs, the harlequin will keep the starfish alive by feeding on it for about a week, starting on the starfish's tube feet, until it is completely consumed.

Bird Table & Pretty Pollies

Is this cool or what ?
Our own Parrots in the Garden.
And only a day after putting up our humble little bird table.
I said to Glynis "Build it, and they will come !" lol
